My Top 6 Second Cleansers

Cleansing is undoubtedly the most important step when it comes to skincare. If you haven’t cleaned your face properly, your skin’s not gonna absorb the products that you are going to apply next. Personally, I always make sure to double cleanse if I have gone out or have worn makeup. And I follow my oil cleansers with a second cleanser, most preferably gel ones. The past two years I have pretty much been in quarantine so I often skip the oil cleanser and dive straight into my second cleanser.

Over the course of 8 years, I have grown huge preferences for certain cleansers. And here are my top favourite ones and where to get them from.

My top 6 cleansers

Cosrx Good Morning Low pH Gel Cleanser:

This is my absolute favourite cleanser of all time. Whenever someone asks me to create a routine for them, it’s the first product I suggest to them. It has a mild exfoliating effect and has the perfect pH level of 4.5-5-. It was part of my Glass-skin routine and made a great impact achieving it.

Maccaron,

ACCOJE Vital in Jeju Purifying & Peeling Cleansing Foam

This one was somewhat similar to the Cosrx Good Morning Cleanser. It has a mild peeling effect and makes the skin refreshed and clean. But if given a choice I’ll take the Cosrx one over this any day.

Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Foam:

When it comes to Korean Skincare, there are brands that are targeted towards international consumers. And then are brands that Korean women actually use. Sulwhasoo is a hanbang (traditional Korean medicine) brand that is a staple in Korea. While their products can be pricey, they are just so worth it. The Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Foam cleanses the face super gently while soothing any irritation. Despite having a pH level of 5, it foams nicely. I bought the deluxe size for my honeymoon. And it worked perfectly for me while my skin went through massive climate changes.

Purito Defence Barrier pH Cleanser:

Another gem with the perfect pH balance. It was part of my pregnancy skincare routine when I managed to wash my face just once a day. It gives the skin that squeaky clean feeling without making the skin dry. My sister has oily, acne-prone skin and it helped reduce her acne when she was visiting home. She ended up buying a tube for herself.

I don’t believe I ever reviewed it, I used to have a hard time sitting for hours to write long review posts. But that reminds me to buy it again and do a full review this time.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser:

When I was younger and not into skincare, I visited a dermatologist for a heat allergy after a beach vacation. She recommended the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser mentioning how hyper-sensitive my skin is. Being young, and having no knowledge of skincare, I hated this cleanser that wouldn’t foam. Now that I’m wiser with a few greys, I have come to adore this gentle cleanser. Especially when I feel my skin barrier needs some gentle care.

Back in 2017, I had a skin infection due to using testers. It took me derma visits, anti-biotic (both topical and oral), benzoyl peroxide, and months to recover. As a result, my skin barrier was damaged. I have been getting cycle acnes on the same spot of the infection ever since. Which lead me to believe that a severely damaged barrier was the reason. So whenever I feel that my skin barrier is fragile, I switch to this gentle cleanser and my skin heals very fast.

Cosrx Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser:

Unlike the name suggests, it’s not very gentle. It’s one of those cleansers that give you the squeaky clean feeling but at the same time makes your skin dry. And I have normal-dry skin. This has a pH level as high as 9. But what made me include this cleanser to my top 5 is how instantly it heals stubborn bumps. You know the tiny red bumps that have no puss, won’t pop, and certainly won’t go away? I used to get them sometimes since suffering from that terrible skin infection. But this bad boy heals them like instantly. It also dries up active acne and makes them heal faster.

As a new mother, I don’t get enough time or energy to chemically exfoliate my skin. Something that I loved to do pre-baby. However, since this cleanser has 2% salicylic acid, I use it whenever I feel my skin needs a bit exfoliation.

Till then bye…
