Wanderlust Rekindled: Navigating the World with Seiji

The rustling leaves, the distant sound of waves crashing, and the infectious laughter of a toddler—the symphony of travel has returned to my life. Resuming our adventures post-pandemic, I’ve come to realize that traveling with Seiji is not just a journey to destinations but an odyssey into the heart of parenthood. I, as a traveller and a parent have found the profound importance of traveling with kids. and here’s everything I discovered since I resumed travel since my motherhood.

Travelling with kids

1. The World as a Classroom:

Our travels have transformed into an interactive classroom for Seiji. From colonial buildings to bustling markets to the waves, every corner teaches him something new. Touching artifacts, hearing different languages, and absorbing the vibrant cultures unfold an education beyond textbooks. And with his every curious eyes he absorbs his surroundings, asking questions that we are always happy to answer. I take a pride that my son has inherited my curiosity and my love for exploring the unknown.Travelling with kids

2. Unleashing the Power of Imagination:

As Seiji gazes at unfamiliar landscapes, his eyes light up with curiosity. Traveling becomes a canvas for his imagination to run wild—castles in the clouds, dragons in the mountains. Through exploration, we nurture his creativity, allowing him to paint his own stories.

3. Bonds That Transcend Time and Space:

The bond between Seiji and us strengthens with every shared adventure. The stories we accumulate on the road become the threads weaving a tapestry of familial connection. These shared memories become the legacy that binds us beyond the immediate present. And when we are back home, he falls asleep reminiscing our travel stories together. Of course, accompanied by him asking when we can go back.

4. Lessons in Adaptability:

Traveling isn’t always smooth sailing, especially with a toddler. Flight delays, missed connections, bad traffic and sudden weather changes are part of the journey. Seiji learns the art of adaptability, understanding that sometimes plans alter, but the joy lies in embracing the unexpected.

5. Rediscovering Wonder through Innocent Eyes:

Seiji’s wonderment at the world reignites my appreciation for the small miracles we often overlook. A flower, a seashell, or a passing butterfly—they become marvels when seen through the innocent eyes of a child. Traveling with Seiji rekindles my own sense of awe.

6. Patience, the Travel Virtue:

With a toddler in tow, patience becomes not just a virtue but a travel essential. Waiting in queues, enduring long journeys, and navigating through crowded places teach Seiji the importance of patience—a lesson that extends well beyond the realms of travel.
I clicked this picture while they patiently waited for lunch that arrived 2 and a half hours after we ordered. We reached that property that noon after almost 2 hours of travelling.

7. Cultivating a Love for Nature:

Seiji’s encounters with nature during our travels—whether it’s a serene mountain view or the rhythmic crashing of waves—instill in him a love for the environment. These experiences lay the foundation for environmental consciousness and a sense of responsibility towards our planet.Travelling with kids

8. Introduction To New Cusines:

Ever since Seiji was introduced to solid food I tried to enhance his pallete. And our trips prove to be such a wonderful opportunity for him to try out new cuisines. Here’s a picture of  a 2 year old Seiji enjoying Roti with a local veg curry.

Takeaway:

In the tapestry of life, every journey with Seiji adds a vibrant thread, creating a narrative that is uniquely ours. Through the lens of parenthood and the prism of travel, we discover that the importance of traveling with kids goes far beyond ticking destinations off a list. It’s about weaving a story of growth, discovery, and love—one adventure at a time.

As we embark on this continuous journey, Seiji and I, hand in hand, embrace the world with open hearts and curious minds, ready for the myriad wonders that await us.
