AXIS Y as a brand launched during the lockdown era and quickly went viral all over social media, for all the right reasons. The first products I tried from them were their mask duo and I fell in love. My current routine is 70% AXIS Y products- from my cleansers, to my sheet mask, to my cream and sunscreen. I have been meaning to review my Axis Y routine in a single blog post. But my ADHD brain just couldn’t jot them out all in a single place. So finally I decided to do single blog post reviews for each product, starting with my favourite one from the range.

The Axis Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum went viral on social media, just like the mugwort masks. While some people absolutely loved the glow serum, some claimed it was overhyped. I currently am on my third tube of The Axis Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum, so I guess you can already tell which half I fall into.

Formulated with 5% Niacinamide, Sea Bucktorn, Calendula, Papaya and Squalene, the Axis Y Dark Spot Glow Serum claims to remove dark spots, even out skin tone and overall brighten the skin.

My Experience With The Axis Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum:

When I first started using the Axis Y Glow Serum, I initially felt the serum was lost on me. It gave my skin a subtle hydration. However, like a lot of social media users, I had huge expectations from the serum. After all, it went viral for being a game changer, right? And it didn’t do much to the stubborn scars that my bouts of closed comedone flares left me with.

While I was testing the glow serum, another product testing went horribly wrong and I suffered from yet another episode of closed comedone flare up. I had to stop using all my products and start my prescription of Benzoyl Peroxide + Retinoid + Topical Antibiotics. As usual my skin was peeling and my barrier was so damaged that my skin burnt! 1 week into the prescription, I decided to add the Axis Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum to my prescription regimen. Because Niacinamide is known to repair barrier, I started using it after my Benzoyl Peroxide wash. Within the next 2 days, my skin stopped stinging and I could follow through my 2 month prescription routine like a breeze.

My skin felt healthy despite going through the harsh treatment and when my skin recovered I realized that I didn’t get any new scar from this particular flare up.

I am currently on my 3rd tube of this serum and I can’t really imagine my skincare routine without it. I use it both during my morning routine and my night time routine. And thanks to this serum, I keep using my prescription retinoid every once in a while without the fear of over exfoliation to avoid further closed comedone flare ups.

Texture And Consistency:

The Axis Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow serum has a very light weight consistency. It’s neither runny, nor thick. It absorbs into the skin like a dream without any greasiness. When my skin is dry from harsh treatment, it feels enough before a moisturiser. And when my skin feels a bit oily during my hormonal days, it doesn’t feel heavy either. It has just the perfect texture and consistency.

Final Verdict:

If you are looking for an instant magical brightening effect. You are going to be disappointed. But this serum works in more ways than you can imagine. Some time we don’t notice any instant effect but over the course our skin becomes healthy in a long run. And the Axis Y Spot Correcting Glow Serum gives you just that. I initially added it to my routine to help heal my existing scars. And it ended up stopping any new scars from appearing. And for me, that’s a win.
