Minimalist Multi-Peptide Serum Review

While I was on a hiatus from my skincare obsession for around 2 years, this great brand called Minimalist launched in India. Friends and readers would often ask me “How is this new brand  ‘Minimalist’? And honestly, I had no idea. Anwesha, a reader turned guest blogger on my blog kept me updated on the great new products that I was missing out on. Over time she accumulated more knowledge about skincare products than I did before my hiatus.  And she would rave about all these great products that she tried from Minimalist. So when I resumed taking care of my skin it was only likely that I tried out this much-raved brand.

So as you guys know, one of my top focuses right now is rebuilding the collagen that my skin lost during these 2 years. Before my pregnancy I didn’t have much knowledge about anti-aging products. I just knew that the first signs of aging appears from your neck and shoulder. So I just paid as much attention to my neck and shoulder as I did to my face. Apart from that I didn’t have any dedicated routine or even a single product that delayed the aging signs. I wore sunscreen and took care of my skin. I had the much-raved glass skin. And I kept telling myself that it’s about time I started using anti-aging products and then I would procastinate.

First forward to a pregnancy and motherhood later my skin lost its collagen, my face looked hollow and the corner of my lips started drooping. And it was then that I started doing my research on anti-aging skincare routine. Since I’m breastfeeding, I have to be mindful about what I’m putting on my skin. I cannot use Retinol or other powerful ingredients so of now.  I’ I introduced Vitamin C into my routine, started doing facial yoga and discovered peptide. And this 3 combined undid the 2 years of negligence that my skin suffered. Now since I already talked about the effect Vitamin C and Facial Yoga had on my face, today we’ll talk about what Peptide did to my skin.

What Is Peptide?

Peptide, also known as polypeptide are amino acids that make up certain proteins needed by our skin. Collagen is made of  3 polypeptides chains. So essentially, adding peptide in your skincare can boost the collagen production of your skin. Our body makes collagen naturally, but as we grow older, the collagen production decreases. Resulting in aging signs.

While the collagen molecule is larger to absorb through the skin, peptides can actually penetrate through. Thus incorporating peptides into your skincare routine might give a better result than applying topical collagen.

The only downside about peptide as an ingredient is that the research backing Peptide as a miracle anti-aging ingredient is still under development. Unlike AHAs and Retinol, the effect of peptide on skin isn’t scientifically backed yet.

Leaving that little information aside, let’s jump to what my experience with the Minimalist Multi-Peptide Serum was like.

Minimalist Multi-Peptide Serum:

Minimalist Multi-Peptide SerumIngredients:

Aqua, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Butylene Glycol, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Acetyl Glutamine, sh-Oligopeptide-1, sh-Oligopeptide-2, sh-Polypeptide-1, sh-Polypeptide-9, sh-Polypeptide-11, Bacillus/Folic Acid Ferment Filtrate Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Lecithin, Glycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Carbomer, Polysorbate 20, Propanediol, Pullulan, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Xanthan Gum, Sclerotium Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Lactic Acid.

Brand Claims:

Formulated with a high concentration of 7% Matrixyl 3000 peptides which is tested to regulate the expression of Progerin, a senescence marker which accumulates with age. It supports the activation of the cutaneous repair process, and in particular at the level of the fragile and UV-damage prone papillary dermis, thus is suitable and effective anti-aging serum for all skin types.

The Minimalist Multi-peptide serum contains Bio-placenta, obtained from microbial fermentation, which helps in synthesizing various growth factors (very similar to human Placenta). The combination of five growth factors and other essential factors in Bio-placenta can have synergistic effects on the skin and helps in skin rejuvenation and cell revitalization. It also stimulates cell growth and promotes biosynthesis of collagen.

My Experience With Minimalist Multi-Peptide Serum:

The product comes in a classy, no-frill packaging. Honestly, it can’t get any classier. I apply it after my toner during my night time routine. The serum feels a bit slimey on he skin but settles quickly. As per the brand instruction, I let it sit on my skin for about 2-3 minutes before moving on to the next step. My skin feels a bit dry while I wait to apply the next product but that feeling doesn’t linger.

Within a few days after I started using the serum, my skin started feeling plump. By this point I have already started enjoying a plumped up skin thanks to facial yoga. And this serum took the bounciness to the next level. My skin started bouncing if I tapped on my cheek. Koreans call it Jello Skin and that was what I was rooting for.

Scientifically backed or not, this peptide serum helped my skin boost collagen production and my face no longer looked hollow. A month after I started using this serum, I came to my parent’s place for Christmas. And I forgot to pack the serum. I continued doing my facial yoga and continued applying Vitamin C. But after a week my skin started loosing the bounciness. Thus confirming that the peptide serum was indeed doing miracle to my skin. Currently my skin is not as bad as it was during my 2 yrs hiatus but it has certainly been better a month back.

Final Verdict:

The Minimalist Multi-Peptide Serum turned out to be the Holy Grail of my Anti-aging routine. It’s so good that I really want to buy another bottle for my parent’s place. But then again that’s how all of my products expire before I run out of them.

Pros:

  • Made my cheeks bouncy
  • Affordable
  • Classy packaging
  • Boosted the collagen production of my skin

Cons:

Nothing that I can point out.
