My Fitness Journey: Learning to Move Again with XFyt

If you had told me a few years ago that I would voluntarily wake up and head to the gym several times a week, I would have laughed.

For most of my life, fitness wasn’t something I actively thought about. I was always on the leaner side. I had my curves, but I never crossed the 45 kg mark before becoming a mom. I never counted calories, never followed strict workout plans, and certainly never spent hours researching weight loss techniques.

My idea of healthy living was much simpler.

I would Google superfoods for glowing skin, then Google recipes to include them in my daily meals. I loved experimenting with healthy ingredients, but I also enjoyed eating whatever I wanted without much guilt. My weight remained stable, my energy levels were good, and fitness was never something I felt I needed to prioritize.

Then life happened.

Motherhood changed many things, but surprisingly, weight gain wasn’t one of them. In fact, I didn’t start gaining weight immediately after childbirth like many people expect.

The real change happened almost three years later.

After battling COVID and then dealing with a severe allergic reaction shortly afterwards, my body started responding differently. The weight began creeping up steadily and stubbornly.

45 kg became 50 kg.

50 kg became 55 kg.

55 kg became 58 kg.

And before I knew it, I was staring at a number close to 60 kg.

At first, I tried the things that had always worked before. I cut back on carbs. I walked a little more. I tried being more mindful about my meals.

Nothing seemed to make much of a difference.

That was the moment I realized I needed to do more than just tweak my diet. I needed to actively work on my fitness.

So, I joined a gym.

The first few days were not glamorous.

Every muscle in my body hurt. Climbing stairs felt like punishment. Getting out of bed became an achievement in itself. Yet somehow, I kept showing up. Day after day, I dragged my sore body back to the gym and slowly started building a routine.

And then, within a couple of weeks, I decided to make this journey a little more fun.

A little more colorful.

A little more me.

Instead of shopping for skincare, I found myself shopping for fitness wear. Yoga pants, sports bras, skorts, workout sets—pieces that made me actually look forward to getting dressed for a workout.

That’s when I discovered XFyt.

Fashion Meets Function

Founded by fitness enthusiasts and adventure lovers Sandhya and Abhijit, XFyt—short for Xtreme FYTness—was inspired by their unforgettable adventure through the Zanskar Valley.

Surrounded by the raw beauty of nature, rafting through wild rapids by day and reflecting beside campfires at night, they envisioned a brand that could combine adventure, fitness, style, and functionality into one seamless experience.

That philosophy is reflected in every XFyt piece. Their products are thoughtfully designed to balance performance and comfort while maintaining a fashionable edge. Sustainable practices, premium stitching, flattering silhouettes, and functional details come together to create activewear that genuinely supports an active lifestyle.

The Pieces That Became My Favorites

One of the first pieces I tried was the XFyt Crossover Leggings.

What immediately stood out was the V-shaped crossover waistband. Unlike many leggings that rely on aggressive compression, these create a naturally flattering silhouette while remaining incredibly comfortable. The ultra-soft nylon-spandex fabric stretches beautifully, stays in place during workouts, and feels just as comfortable during everyday activities.

Whether I’m doing strength training at the gym, stretching at home, or running errands afterwards, they move effortlessly with me.

Another favorite has been the XFyt Swift Skorts.

I’ve always loved feminine silhouettes, so the combination of a skirt with built-in shorts felt like the perfect balance between style and practicality. The lightweight design allows freedom of movement while the inner shorts provide coverage and confidence. They’re ideal not only for workouts but also for active days when comfort is non-negotiable.

And then there’s the Strappy Back Padded Sports Bra.

Soft, breathable, supportive, and surprisingly stylish, it’s become one of those pieces I reach for repeatedly. The crisscross back detail makes it feel less like gym wear and more like something designed to be seen. The removable padding and comfortable stretch fabric make it versatile enough for yoga, strength training, and everyday athleisure looks.

More Than Just Workout Clothes

What surprised me most wasn’t how these outfits looked.

It was how they made me feel.

Getting dressed in activewear that I genuinely enjoyed wearing made me more excited about moving my body. Suddenly, fitness wasn’t confined to the gym anymore.

I started doing yoga at home.

I started squeezing in freehand workouts between work commitments.

I became more conscious of staying active throughout the day.

Because when you’re comfortable and confident in what you’re wearing, moving feels less like a chore and more like a lifestyle.

Two Months Later

I’m now two months into my fitness journey.

The weight loss itself is still relatively small. If I only focused on the number on the scale, I might even feel discouraged.

But something much more important has changed.

I feel stronger.

I have more energy.

I’m noticeably more productive throughout the day.

And for the first time in a long time, I can see muscle definition starting to appear in places where there wasn’t any before.

Those small changes are incredibly motivating.

They remind me that fitness isn’t just about losing weight. It’s about building strength, improving health, increasing energy, and creating habits that support the life you want to live.

I’m still at the beginning of my journey.

But for the first time in years, I feel like I’m moving in the right direction.

And if there’s one thing I’ve learned so far, it’s this: sometimes the smallest changes—joining a gym, showing up consistently, or simply finding activewear that makes you excited to move—can become the first step towards a completely different version of yourself.

Every fitness journey starts with a single step, and mine is still very much a work in progress. If you’re planning to begin your own journey—or simply want activewear that makes movement feel a little more fun—I’d definitely recommend checking out XFyt. Their pieces have become a staple in my workout wardrobe and have genuinely encouraged me to stay more active.
