Benton Honest Cleansing Foam Review

I’ve been obsessed with K-Beauty for over 8 years now and the one thing that I don’t get is their obsession with high pH cleansers. I mean pick up any Korean second cleanser and it will definitely have a pH level higher than 5.5, unless it’s specifically marketed as a Low pH cleanser. Now I like my entire regimen to be Korean and I also like a low pH cleanser. So my choice is very limited. There are Low pH Korean Cleansers that I absolutely love, but then again I also love discovering and reviewing new products.

So a few days back I was shopping at Maccaron Beauty just for the sake of a shopping experience with them. And I happened to discover some deluxe size samples available for purchase. I always love buying deluxe size samples because unlike tinier samples, there are enough amounts to test and review without breaking the bank. And it also doesn’t hurt much if the product turns out to be a disappointment.

Out of all the Deluxe Size samples, the Benton ones caught my eyes. I really love their Snail Bee line and have always wanted to try more of their products. So along with their Fermentation Eye Cream, I got myself the Benton Honest Cleansing Foam. Before making the purchase though, I did a little research, and turned out the cleansing foam has a pH level of a whopping 8. Something I would not personally choose. And if it was a full-sized product, I would have never paid my hard-earned money for it. Because out of all the high pH cleansers that I have ever purchased, 100% expired before the product was emptied. But this was a 30ml deluxe size sample and I do love a clarifying cleanser once in a while so I bought it without thinking twice.

My Experience With Benton Honest Cleansing Foam:

So one thing that you can expect when using a high pH cleanser is the feeling of dryness right after cleansing your skin. But apart from that, high pH cleansers are best to remove the last trace of dirt, make-up, sebum and debris. In short, they lathers really, really well and leaves you with a squeaky clean feeling. However, the immediate dryness is not the only back draw of using a high pH cleanser. Using them in long run can actually tamper with the normal acid mantle of your skin.

Keeping these in mind, I don’t use high pH cleansers regularly, but I do use them about 2-3 times a week, especially if I have worn makeup or gone out. So my first impression of the Benton Honest Cleansing Foam was that it mildly smelled like artificial fragrance. When checked, perfume was on the ingredient list. Well, that deducts a point.

The product itself has a pearly white texture and lathers amazingly. It gave me that squeaky clean feeling, removing the last trace of makeup and debris. The moment of truth arrived when I towel-dried my face. It didn’t feel dry and stretchy like most cleansers with similar pH level makes me feel. I mean, it did feel a bit dry, but a lot better than the other high pH cleansers that I have tried. Once I have towel-dried my face, I try to apply my toner as quickly as possible. And post the toner my skin went back to normal.

Because of this squeaky clean feeling, I like using it whenever I go out. I am still strictly in quarantine. But whenever I go out on rare occasions, I feel like mild cleansers cannot kill a virus and I opt for this cleanser. I mean it’s funny and just in my head but that’s what I do.

Will I recommend It?

If you are someone who uses high pH cleansers, you should definitely try it out. Personally, I don’t use them on a regular basis but I like having one in my stash at all times. I have normal, sensitive skin and whenever I get stubborn bumps, a high pH cleanser is my easiest hack to get rid of them. When I’m suffering from stubborn bumps or a breakout I use them few days in a row and the bumps disappear. And when my skin is behaving normally, I use them whenever I feel like my skin needs a deep cleansing. And the Benton Honest Cleansing Foams fulfill this particular purpose without making my skin stretchy. It helped me get rid of 3 bumps that I recently got. And since it’s available in deluxe size it’s perfect for once in a while usage.

I will definitely not recommend it to dry skin beauties.

Overall,

I won’t say I am a huge fan of this cleanser, but I don’t dislike it either. But if you are someone like me who likes using a high pH cleanser every once in a while, you can definitely give it a try. I just won’t recommend it as a daily cleanser.
