LANEIGE Water Sleeping Mask Review

As the colder months approached just a few weeks back, my skincare products suddenly ran out all at the same time. And as I was supposed to go back to my place in about a week I didn’t wanna break my bank. I always have different sets of products at my two homes. And I hate having to carry a lot of luggage while traveling. So I decided to pamper myself with the highly raved LANEIGE Water Sleeping Mask hoping it will provide my skin with deep hydration and help my skin get through the week.

So let’s find out how I liked it…

LANEIGE Water Sleeping Mask

Brand Claims:

Recharge your dehydrated skin while you sleep with this innovative mask. It’s formulated with highly concentrated Hydro Ionized Mineral Water to deliver high doses of moisture to stressed, parched skin. Calming Sleepscent™, infused with orange flower, rose, and sandalwood, and it relaxes and comforts while apricot and evening primrose extracts brighten and purify fatigued skin. The result: skin looks and feels radiant, refreshed, and soft so you wake up with soft, glowing skin

Ingredients:

Water, Butylene Glycol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycerin, Cyclohexasiloxane, Trehalose, Sodium Hyaluronate, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Root Extract, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Fruit Extract, Beta-Glucan, Chenopodium Quinoa Seed Extract, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Magnesium Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, Manganese Sulfate, Calcium Chloride, Potassium Alginate, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Polysorbate 20, Dimethicone, Dimethiconol, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Propanediol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Stearyl Behenate, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, HYDROXYPROPYL BISPALMITAMIDE MEA, Inulin Lauryl Carbamate, Alcohol, 1, 2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Carbomer, Tromethamine, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance, CI 42090

I just don’t understand why the brands keep including fragrance despite consumers becoming more and more aware of the side effects they can cause.

My Experience:

Like I earlier mentioned, I bought this product while my skin was suffering from dryness due to the cold weather and also due to most of my products running out at the same time. My cleanser at this point had a pH level on a little higher side and my toner wasn’t hydrating as well. My serums and essences at that point had run out. Needless to say, the LANEIGE water sleeping mask had a huge task ahead.

Now if you go through the brand claims again, you’ll notice that the sleeping mask doesn’t claim to fight acne or reduce any spots and marks. It has ONE JOB- hydration. And maybe relaxing stressed-out skin. But apart from that, it isn’t supposed to do any other job. This is exactly why I picked up this sleeping mask when my skin needed an extra dose of hydration.

But to my utter disappointment, the mask failed to repair my overly dried skin. At first, I was confused. Maybe I was doing something wrong! Maybe my skin was just too dry! In the meanwhile, my plans to travel back to my place got delayed by one week. So I ended up ordering a serum. And a few days later, my skin was still dry. Next, I switched my cleanser to the Cetaphil Creamy Cleanser and only used the other one if I went out or wore makeup.

And lo and Behold! My skin was still dry. And then my plans got delayed yet by another week. So I bought The Face Shop Calendula Moisturiser for daytime usage. And to my utter surprise, it moisturized my skin way better than the LANEIGE Water Sleeping Mask did. My skin started staying hydrated throughout the day. And then I would use the Sleeping Mask during my nighttime routine and wake up the next day with visibly dry skin.

There were days I did my night-time routine a little early, around 8 in the evening. And by the time I would go to bed, my skin would start feeling stretched already. I switched my toner to a mildly hydrating one, and still nothing!

Notably, on nights when I used the moisturizer instead of the Sleeping Mask, my skin stayed nice and hydrated until the morning.

Overall,

The LANEIGE Water Sleeping Mask was a complete fail for me. Maybe it will work for my skin better during the summer. And I would give it another try then. But right now I’m just glad that I bought the smaller jar.
