In a previous article I compared low pH cleansers with unseasoned tofu:  good for you but you don’t really get the satisfaction. The Cosrx Good Morning Low pH Cleanser was so far the only low pH cleanser that gives me the satisfaction of cleansing my skin, and now I’ve found another one: By Wishtrend Acid Duo 2% Mild Cleansing Gel. It has a pH level of 5.5 and it helps restore the skin’s pH balance.

If you have read my previous posts, you’ll know that I had some bumps on my skin that disappeared after I started using the Cosrx Salicylic Acid Cleanser.  However, once my bumps cleared out, I decided that my skin has had enough of a high pH Cleanser twice daily. So I switched it with the Wishtrend Acid Duo only to use the Cosrx Salicylic Cleanser twice a week.

Claims:

The Acid Duo Mild Gel Cleanser is a gentle cleanser containing Capryloyl Salicylic Acid LHA and Gluconolactone (PHA) that cleanse the skin from dead skin cells and impurities. With the pH level of 5.5, it helps restore the skin’s pH balance and is gentle to the skin.

My Experience:

Ever since I got into the vast world of K-Beauty, I never really shied away from using acids so the thought of using an acid duo to clean my face that has 2% acid allured me too much. The said acids are LHA which is great for oil control, acne and exfoliation and PHA which gently exfoliates and hydrates the skin.

After using a high pH cleanser for a long period of time my skin really needed some gentle and mild cleansing. The By Wishtrend Acid Duo has a classic gel consistency which lathers up really nicely once applied to the face. A very little goes a very long way, and cleanses the skin without leaving the skin dry or tight. My only complaint was that the pump wasn’t working properly at first and it took me a few days to adjust it to work. Apart from that, I’m really happy with the cleanser. It cleanses the skin without leaving it dry and since I have started using it I have noticed no bumps or irritation ( *toochwood*) and probably would have been flaunting a glass skin yet again if I wasn’t severely tanned.

I haven’t used it to remove makeup as I always double cleanse during my p.m routine so I can’t really tell if it removes heavy makeup.

My current concern is brightening and thus I’ve been using vita C and DIY detan face masks and I can tell that they are working. I don’t know if the Wishtrend Acid Duo has to do anything with it or it’s just my detan facemasks, but my skin has visibly brightened since I started using this cleanser.

So far I really like this cleanser and my CosDNA analysis has found barely any ingredient that is an irritant. I would recommend it to anyone suffering from acne (and in general anyone) who would like a mild cleanser.
