Calendula For Skin: The Face Shop Calendula Essential Moisture Serum Review
Growing up in the 90s, I was an outdoor kid. So when I cut or bruised myself, I remember the elders rubbing marigold or pot marigold AKA calendula on the bruise. And let me tell you, it worked like a miracle healing the bruising. Calendula has been used in ancient Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine for years. And in modern days the benefits of calendula for skin have been acknowledged by many Skincare brands. Calendula is known for its anti-inflammatory benefits. Rich in fatty acids, calendula has the power to moisturize the skin from the outside making it supple, smooth, and nourished. This gentle-looking flower is rich in flavonoid, a powerful anti-oxidant that protects the skin from free radical damage.
So when I was unable to get rid of some deep scars that were left by the untrimmed nails of my 1-year-old, I decided to incorporate Calendula into my routine.

My Experience With The Faceshop Calendula Essential Moisture Serum:
So the main reason I got this serum was that my face was full of scratch marks at one point. And it was completely on me. I always kept procrastinating when it came to trimming the baby’s nails. And I barely had the time to look into the mirror. So I had no idea how bad it was. Until one day my husband was clicking selfies with the baby and then clicked one with me. I was left horrified at how bad the marks looked. The worst was one deep cut mark under my right eye which basically made the picture look like a criminal mug shot. It wasn’t just a mark; it was deep, like a line of flesh was missing. And it was so bad that no amount of makeup actually hid it.
Anyway, back to the review. My first impression of the serum was that it looks luxurious in its frosty bottle. The texture is milky white with a mild scent of fresh calendula. Only 2 pumps of the serum are required to cover the entire face and neck. It absorbs into the skin with gentle massage. However, if you are someone who does not follow up your serum with a moisturizer, it can give a little tacky finish. Personally, I like to seal the goodness of my serums with a moisturizer and the sticky feeling goes away.
After religiously applying the serum my scars started fading away. I had over 10 scratch marks all over my face and within a month and a half all the scars disappeared except the deep one. At present, the deep scratch is no longer discolored, and you can hardly notice it. But if I really pay attention, the missing line of flesh comes to notice. However, the silver lining is that even the slightest of makeup or physical sunscreen can hide it. Apart from the scars, my skin looks visibly plump and hydrated.
Final Verdict:
I actually fell so in love with the product that I wanted to try the entire range. So I bought the eye cream next. Sadly, it didn’t work for me. The texture was thinner than my liking, almost like this serum. I have stubborn genetic eye bags that need something thicker. But I still look forward to trying the other products from this range.
Pros:
- Heals scar marks
- Hydrates the skin
- A little goes a long way
- Packaging looks luxurious
Con:
- The full ingredient list in the product is subjected to change. And the only way to get to know the full ingredient is to order the product and look into the box.
Price:
