Purito Comfy Water Sun Block SPF 50+ PA++++ Review
The first blog post of 2020 and I decided to make it a K-Beauty one. This is a long pending review as Purito so generously sent me a package a long time back, long before my pregnancy, long before my husband’s surgery and while I resumed my skincare routine since my 5th month of pregnancy, I couldn’t get to a verdict regarding the Purito Comfy Water Sunscreen as I haven’t been going out at all, except my doctor’s appointments and it would be unfair if I reviewed a sunscreen after testing it under the roof.
So first of all, you need to know that I have a hyper sensitive skin which reacts terribly to chemical sunscreen. So mineral sunscreen has always been my go to. Which means ashy white cast during the day time. I’ve often been criticized for ‘wearing the wrong makeup’ because I chose the white cast over skin cancer. My skin also gets tanned like nuts and only a few sunscreen helps.
So Purito launched their new mineral sunscreen and claims that its light textured and doesn’t leave a white cast like most mineral sunscreen do. Now Purito is a brand known for their Pure ingredient list. And considering the fact that pure ingredient products are safe during pregnancy I also happen to shed a few of my own dollars purchasing some other products from their range. So you can guess that I was super thrilled to try out this sunscreen despite not going out and despite 4 entirely full sunblocks sitting in my dresser idle which I probably won’t be needing in the coming months as well.
Now let’s get down to the review.
The texture:
I’ve never used a mineral sunscreen before that has such soft, buttery, light texture. Most mineral sunscreens have thick paste like texture and are pain to blend, but this blends super smoothly giving the skin a satin finish.
White Cast:
Again, probably the first mineral sunscreen that left no white cast at all. It does make the skin a bit brighter and the effect is more like that of a tone-up cream but certainly not that ashy white cast. Some times when I have a doctor’s appointment in the morning, and I’m certainly not wearing any makeup, this gives a nice glow to the face without making it white.
Ingredients:
The ingredient list looks pretty promising. Along with both Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide, it also contains niacin. Throughout my pregnancy I’m digging products containing niacin more than ever. I have pregnancy melasma which gives me ugly dark patches all over my face. And even though I’m not much bothered about it (not after suffering from HG, and considering it’s a very tiny price to pay to get to cuddle with a mini us), they look DIRTY, like I haven’t washed my face in a long time. And I’ve noticed that niacin does make a very minor difference, while products like Vita c and other spot correcting ingredients have failed to do anything at all.
Ingredients: Water, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Zinc Oxide, Silica, Niacinamide, 1,2-Hexanediol, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Sodium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Stearic Acid, Madecassoside, Asiaticoside, Madecassic Acid, Asiatic Acid, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Lauroyl Lysine, Disodium EDTA, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Adenosine, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer
Result:
Coming to the most important part: how did it perform? Even though I didn’t go out much and even though my skin is already pretty dark during the pregnancy, I noticed no new tans after my morning appointments. So it does everything it claims.
