My Experience:

You guys might know that I stock up on sample products before I travel, so I did some sample haul from Cosmetic-Love before my Bangalore trip and the Etude House Moistfull Collagen Cream was one of them. I got two tiny tubs that lasted me the whole trip. For my night time regimen I stayed loyal to my Taiyu Silk Cream but for my day time regimen I opted for the Etude House Moistfull Collagen cream even though am pretty sure that it’s hydrating enough to be used as a night cream (in a moderate temp).

The cream is extremely lightweight, a bit jelly like and spreads evenly. It takes a few second to be absorbed completely, but once absorbed there’s no sticky or greasy residue. It makes the skin plump and bouncy and you can literally notice a healthy skin within a week of application. The hydration lasts throughout the day, and if you are aware how terrible the summer is at Bangalore you’ll know what my skin has survived during those weeks. I don’t think it would have done the job for a night cream if used during those days because the heat there was so terrible that it can even dehydrate the skin of beauties with extremely oily skin, and then there I was, struggling with my combination, sensitive skin. I honestly doubt any of my regular creams would have helped my skin as much as this one did, and it really surprises me to think that this super lightweight cream can give such hydration boost.

Since collagen plays an important part in anti-aging treatment, and I am 27+ and haven’t incorporated any anti-aging product in my routine yet, I guess staying loyal to this product is the best I can do.

Will I purchase it again?

The whole range, in full sizes.

Will I recommend it?

Yes. Someone recently asked me how to survive Bangalore Summer this year and I must say, this is one product you might wanna try out(a full post on how to survive summer skin coming up).

Benton Snail Bee High Content Mask Pack Review

Hey guys, today I will be reviewing a Sheet Mask that I have had an eye on for some time. I have heard ravings about the goodness of snail extract and even though I was grossed out a little, I still tried out my first snail poo product sometimes back and unfortunately my experience was not as amazing as my expectations were. Luckily my experience with Benton Snail Bee High Content Mask was a lot better. I might disappoint some of you saying that I didn’t take a sheet mask selfie because I looked too ghastly wearing the mask but I hope I can make it up to you guys with the review.

[Features]

[Benton] Snail Bee High Content MaskPack 20g 1 Sheet

Snail Bee High Content Mask Pack is for all types of skin including sensitive and troubled skin types.

This high content mask pack contains Bee Venom, EGF and various botanical based natural ingredients to help improve your rough and damaged skin from various stress and pollution.

In addition to the troubled skin care, cooling, moisturizing, soothing effect, and skin-lifting improvement, this all-in-one multi-care cosmetic has functional ingredients such as Arbutin and Adenosine which help you to achieve clear and more even skin tone complexion.

[How to Use]

Prepare your skin with skin toner after washing your face.

Open the packaging and place the mask gently over the face make sure it adheres to the face.

After 20~30 minutes remove the mask, then pat the leftover ingredients gently into the skin.

My Experience:

You guys might know that I have come back from my Bangalore trip with a terrible, terrible skin and you guys are probably not hearing it for the last time because my skin hasn’t recovered yet. Firstly, because may be the damage is a bit severe, and secondly because I haven’t treated my skin like I usually do after I coming back from any trip. It’s been over two weeks and the tan is still there and so are the weird bumps on my cheeks.

So I used this Snail Bee Sheet Mask a few days after returning when the bumps were at their worst. When I applied it, I was certain that one sheet mask cannot possibly recover this terrible of a damage, but I had expectations that it will at least control. Out of all the sheet masks I have ever used, this one had to be the softest. And this is not the only point where it stood out from the crowd of sheet masks I have ever used. Unlike the regular sheet masks, the main ingredient wasn’t water; it was Camellia Sinesis Leaf Water- green tea. If you think that is impressive enough, wait till I tell you that the eye holes weren’t hollow, there were cut out patches, like you can lift them up on your eyes and relax with the eye patches on, or lift them down and watch your favourite series on Netflix. I wish I didn’t look that ghastly with the mask on so that I could have shown you guys how it works. The fitting wasn’t very good (why I looked ghastly) but it wasn’t that terrible either.

I removed the mask after 30 minutes and my skin was super hydrated and the bumps were visibly minimized. Like something told me that had I got a few more of these masks my skin would have completely recovered by a couple of weeks. Sadly I ordered just one and Cosmetic-Love takes a little time to ship.  So even though it didn’t completely heal my skin, it really did some damage control and I am impressed.

Price:

$2.18

Pros:

  • Does what it claims
  • Contains Snail Extract that’s much raved for their anti-aging benefits and their soothing power
  • Contains Bee Venom that’s known as nature’s botox
  • Affordable
  • Paraben free
  • Works on sensitive skin
  • Has got eye patches

Cons:

Nothing

Will I re-purchase and recommend it?

Absolutely

Dear Klairs Rich Moist Facial Soap Review

Hey guys, am back with yet another K-beauty review and this time it’s the Dear Klairs Rich Moist Facial Soap which was sent to me as a PR package.

What the product claims:

The Rich Moist Facial Soap is a light pink facial soap that contains calamine powder to provide excellent soothing for sensitive skin.

Argan oil and Yermar mate, which contains over 5 times more polyphenol than tea tree, effectively moisturizes and delivers antioxidants to the skin.

Ingredient:

Calamine, Yermar mate, Argan oil, Jojoba oil, Almond oil

My experience:

The Rich Moist Facial Soap comes wrapped in an eco-friendly brown paper and as the product claims, is a pink facial soap. I’ve rarely used facial soaps as I stick with foaming cleansers but I was surprised to see how easily and amazingly it lathers up. If you’ve read my previous posts you’ll know that I’ve came back from Bangalore with a terrible skin. Both my cheeks are filled with weird tiny bumps and I’ve been avoiding applying anything even mildly harsh on my skin. Since the Rich Moist Facial Soap claims to work excellent on sensitive skin I’ve been religiously using it twice daily and the bumps seems to minimizing ever since I started using this facial soap. It’s really gentle on my super sensitive skin and I feel like it deep cleanses my skin as my toner soaked cotton pad didn’t pull out any residue and I went back to spraying my toner directly on my face instead of applying it with a cotton pad.

Apart from this, the facial soap didn’t perform extra-ordinary skincare task, didn’t help me with de-tanning or skin brightening and it didn’t claim to. It’s a gentle facial cleansing bar that soothes the skin while deeply cleansing it and I am pretty sure it will be worth a try for sensitive skin beauties.

Will I purchase it?

Yes

Price: Rs. 720 Rs. 620 for 120mg

Pros:

  • Deep cleanses
  • Perfect for sensitive skin
  • Probably will last long
  • Eco-friendly

Cons:

Nothing. (Might look pricey but I have a feeling it will last too long)

MISSHA Real Solution Tencel Sheet Mask Vitamin Complex Review

Hey guys, since I am back home from my trip I realized that it’s high time I get back with my K-Beauty reviews. I’ve already mentioned that the weather in Bangalore was ripping my skin of hydration and the entire whole trip took a toll on my skin. No matter what I was applying on my skin it was going to being dehydrated in a few hours. However, I did not let my irresponsible schedule tamper with my skincare routine. I applied de-tanning face masks at least thrice throughout the trip, used sheet masks too many times and kept spraying my face with a mist whenever I could.

One of the sheet masks that I used over there was Missha Tencel Sheet Mask Vitamin Complex which is meant to provide natural gloss to dull and dry skin. Since my skin was tanned along with being dry, I used a Tomato Wash Off Mask from Tonymoly before applying the sheet mask. The fitting was okay and it took about 20 minutes to dry up. There was some leftover serum inside the packet that I used on my arms under my body butter.

Since I used it during my morning routine, the hydration lasted until evening. My face was somewhat brightened, even though not too much thanks to the tanning but overall my face looked far better than it was looking before applying the sheet mask, as if my skin just got it’s life back.

I’m pretty sure it will work way better if used in moderate temperature.

The Saem Pure Natural Mask Sheet- Snail Brightening Review

Hey guys, you might have noticed that am not writing much these days. I’m currently on a trip to Bangalore having somewhat a great time. I’m crashing with a friend (and sometimes with my sister and a college buddy) and needless to say that am trying hard to get her into K-beauty and she’s already in love.

So today I’ll be reviewing The Saem Snail Brightening Mask which is the first product with Snail Slime that I used as well the first Sheet Mask that my friend ever used. Unfortunately it wasn’t that great.

Product Description:

Formulated with snail extract which provides intensive moisture. 4 kinds of white flower complex gives clear and birhgt skin care.

None of paraben, artificial color, benzophenone, sulphate

My Experience:

When I first used this mask I was a little grossed out. Surprisingly the smell was pleasant. There was a little dripping of essence and a lot essence left inside the packet so people who love using the extra essence on their arms and neck will be happy. The fitting is pretty good, the eye holes are a little weird but I love how there are less wrinkles.

The mask dries out faster than any other sheet mask I’ve ever used and when I remove it, there’s no immense hydration noticeable on the skin. It looks somewhat like a regular essence has been applied rather than that dewy, hydrated look achieved after sheet masking. A faint brightening effect can be noticed the following morning but not noticeable enough to impress me.

Overall, I’m not very much in love. I have heard great things about products containing snail slime and my first experience was disappointing. (I used another essence and cream later and I’m in love). Considering that different products work differently on different skin, I used one on my friend but sure enough the effects were the same.

K-Beauty Mini Sample And Sheet Mask Haul

Hey guys, hope you all are doing well. I’ve done a mini sample and sheet mask haul from cosmetic-love.com as it’s time for me to travel again. It’s going to be my first solo tour as well as my spinster trip and as you guy know how I love packing sample-size and travel-size products while travelling, I ordered a few things I didn’t have in tiny sizes.

Starting with sheet masks, because why not? I know I already have enough in my stash to pack one for each day during my trip but I don’t need any excuse to stock up on them.

  • Benton Snail Bee High Content Mask Pack: I had been eying this product for a long time. I first ordered this last September but didn’t receive it. When I mailed them for re-order it was OOS (and I got a refund). So finally I got my hands on this and I have such high hopes.
  • Missha Real Tencel Sheet Mask: Missha happens to be a beloved brand of mine. However I never tried any sheet mask from them. I hope it’s as good as their essences.
  • Etude House Moistful Cream Collagen: 10ml x 2PCS- Again one of my most favourite K-Beauty brands. Etude House products reminds me of dollhouses. I have heard wonderful things about the Moistful range and I couldn’t help but apply it on my face even before I set out for my trip. I love it already. I’m going to purchase the full-size version soon.
  • Missha Chogongjin Eye Cream – Another Missha product. I’m touring for 11 days and I got a 10 set sample of which I already used one. I sample will last you only two usages so I don’t have to worry about the messiness.
  • Tonymoly Tomato Magic Massage Pack- It was freebie sample that I received with one previous order as well. Even though I would have loved to try out new products as samples but I am fine with these ones as well. They came to my rescue when I got severely tanned in Andaman despite of re-applying sunscreen every 3 hours. I tanned at least 2-3 shades darker and whenever I applied this pack I de-tanned to some extent, not too much but enough to recognize myself in the mirror.

So that’s everything I purchased this time, I’m so looking forward to my trip as well as am anxious because I haven’t travelled alone ever before. This time I’m taking my boyfriend’s camera because his viewfinder rotates and probably I’ll have to click my own pictures this time (except for the times I’m meeting up with my sister and my friends that resides over there).  Also can’t wait to review the products I purchased. Till then… Bye… XOXO

New K-Beauty Site In India- Daisy Skin Fix Haul & First Impression

Hey guys, it’s with great excitement that I am going to announce something really huge (at least to me). There’s an online K-beauty store in India where you can get a massive collection of Korean Skincare Brands, brands you didn’t know were available in India. So rejoice Indian K-beauty addicts, you can now get your hands on a number of K-beauty brands now. You have to no more rely on Innisfree and The Face Shop or ship internationally, you can get them all hassle free right in India.

But first thing first, this is not a sponsored post but the products I received were kind of freebie. You might have noticed by now that this article is a bit different from my usual ones, the reason is my pure ecstasy over the fact that I can now get my hands on a huge collection of K-beauty products without having to ship internationally, this has been my dream for over the past few years. And the best part? They have free shipping on all orders.

How I discovered their site:

So I got a mail from their founder a few weeks back, introducing me to their site- http://www.daisy.net.in/ I went through the site, some of the products I craved for were OOS but I ordered a few sheet masks. For now they are only accepting bank deposit and bank transfer so you have to pay after you have placed your order. Right after I placed the order, I received a personal text from the founder that I don’t need to pay for my order, and within a few days I received my order along with two samples.

If you have been reading my blog regularly, you’ll know that my first online haul from any site is always small, so I settled with just a few sheet masks all the while eyeing their products from Missha, Tonymoly, Skinfood, Secret Key, The Saem and so on.

Skinfood, Tonymoly and Missha are probably my most favourite K-beauty brands. Other brands available at their site are-

COSRX, The FaceShop, Innisfree, Skinfood,Tonymoly, Missha, The Saem, Sulwhasoo, Mizon, Zymogen, Ciracle, Secret Key, Laneige, Son & Park, Nature Republic, Dear Clairs and many more.

After I received my order I had a talk with their founder. Turns out their business is at the baby step right now and only two of the co-owners are doing the entire work- one from Korea and one from India. However, they are looking forward to hire stuffs, adding more payment methods, making the site even more user friendly, getting better deals and including more brands as well as opening a physical store. So I hope it’s just a matter of time that they will overcome the only two issues I found a little bothersome- the payment method, and taking a while to restock OOS products

First Impression:

I have tried out The Saem The Snail Brightening Sheet Mask just today. When I first got introduced to K-beauty, I thought that I will never put Snail Poo on my face. And here I am writing the article with a face full of snail slime. Since I have used it just an hour ago, I can’t tell much except for the fact that I loved the fitting. The eye holes made my face look a bit weird but so far it’s the best fitting mask I’ve ever used.

Is there any product from their site you would like me to review?

Innisfree Water Glow Cushion SPF 50 + PA +++ Review

Cushion Compacts are a gift to us from the K-beauty brands. After BB Creams, CC Cream, DD Cream and sheet masks, they came up with this revolutionary creation which will make you want to pack your regular foundations and sunscreens away. However, I am a little too late to get my hands on one of the beauties since the only K-beauty brand in India is far away from my city and I had to literally quit my job to finally visit the store as I wasn’t able to manage any leaves. I shopped at the Innisfree store like crazy and it’s a little hard to evaluate for me which pick is my favourite one. I came back to my city like a victor, purchasing a small briefcase dedicated entirely to the products I picked up from the store. The cushion compact however is at the top of my favourite list right now.

The packaging:

I cannot be more happy with the packaging. It’s really easy to travel with. With a film to protect the sponge, the compact cannot get any more hygienic.

DSC02327

My Experience:

DSC02330

The Water Glow Cushion Compact is meant to give the skin the much adored dewy finish. I fell in love with the compact after the very first usage. It gives the skin a medium coverage but it is totally build-able in case you want a better  coverage. As for me, I am very satisfied with the coverage I don’t think I’ll need my usual sunscreens ever again. The staying power is pretty good to. It’s an universal rule to re-apply your sunscreen every 3 hours so whenever am out in the sun for over 3 hours I clean my face with a cleansing wet wipes, spray on some mist on my face and apply the cushion compact all over my face and neck. I feel that’s the most hygienic way to protect my skin from the sun.

Apart from the staying power and the coverage, the application is also worth noting. You just have to dab the smooth, soft puff into the cushion and just pat, pat, pat, all over your face. You might notice the whitish tone in the cream post application, that is because most of K-beauty brand sunscreen uses physical sunscreen instead of a chemical one, which is actually great for your skin. However, unlike any other physical sunscreen, this cushion compact blends super easily on the skin, whereas any other physical sunscreen takes a little effort to blend in and leaves a weird white residue.

The best part? when you feel like your cushion has tried up, just flip it over and use it until that end becomes dry too. The sponge is replaceable and when both the ends become dry you just can purchase a re-fill instead of purchasing the whole thing.

Nothing delights me more than seeing the Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide duo in my product list. 😀

Pros:

  • Travel friendly
  • Contains SPF 50+
  • Doesn’t contain parabens
  • Organic sunscreen
  • Good coverage
  • Gives the skin a dewy look

Cons:

Nothing that I can find, except for it can be a little too pricey for those who are in budget, but that is totally worth it.

Innisfree It’s Real Squeeze Mask – Pomegranate Review

Hey guys, I haven’t reviewed any K-beauty products for a while and I’m here to compensate for that. Today I’ll be reviewing the Innisfree It’s Real Squeeze Mask Pomegranate. Now even though my first concern while sheet masking is brightness, I am well aware that it’s about time I start using anti-aging products as well. To be very honest, I haven’t incorporated any anti-aging products in my regimen permanently but from time to time I indulge in firming treatments- like sheet masks and facials and stuff. Pomegranate is known for its skin firming benefits and thus it had its due share in my regimen.

Price:

MRP 100rs

Where to buy:

Nykaa

My Experience:

Just like any other sheet mask, I used it after exfoliating my skin and kept it on for about 30 minutes. The fitting was a little terrible than the other sheet masks from the same range which is weird. The mask was still wet while I took it off and my face was immensely hydrated and supple. There was no brightening effect and the product did not claim any. The following morning my skin was firm and nourished and behaved well for the following days.

Will I purchase it again?

Given to the fact that I haven’t started any thorough anti-aging regimen yet, I might as well take help from this mask from time to time.

Will I recommend it?

To anyone who is 25+

Pros:

  • Does what it claims
  • Travel friendly
  • Pocket Friendly

Cons:

  • No brightening effect

Innisfree It’s Real Squeeze Mask- Rose Review

After my rant about sheet mask mistakes yesterday, I thought it would only be appropriate to review a sheet mask today. So yesterday I was going through my mask stash and since my skin wasn’t asking for anything specific yesterday I went ahead with the one much underrated by me- Innisfree It’s Real Rose Sheet Mask. I don’t know why but I really did not have too much expectation from this particular mask, but at the end of the day I was proven wrong.

What it is

Get supple and radiant skin with the rose It’s real squeeze mask!
1. It’s real squeeze mask – ros
Fragrant roses provide moisture to your skin to make it supple and smooth.
2. Jeju green complex
The Jeju green complex consists of green tea, tangerine, cactus, camellia leaves, and orchids to keep your skin healthy.
3. Triple-layered sheet
This triple-layer sheet has a long-lasting moisturizing effect so that the essence can gradually be absorbed into the skin.

How to use:

  1.  After washing your face, gently apply toner on your face to even out your skin texture.
    2. Then, apply the mask over your entire face, avoiding your eye and lip areas.
    3. Remove the mask after 10-20 minutes and gently pat your face to allow the remaining formula to absorb into your skin.

Price: MRP 100Rs

Where to buy:

Nykaa

Ingredients list: Water, glycerin, butylene glycol, alcohol, betaine, citrus paradisi (grapefruit) fruit extract, rosa centifolia flower juice, xanthan gum, PEG-60 hydrogenated castor oil, ethylhexylglycerin, sodium hyaluronate, citrus unshiu peel extact, orchid extract, camellia sinensis leaf extract, camellia japonica leaf extract, opuntia coccinellifera fruit extract, disodium EDTA, phenoxyethanol, fragrance

My CosDNA analysis came up pretty clean with only butylene glycol raising a low 1 potential acne trigger. But then a lot of products contains bulylene glycol and my skin never reacted badly to it.

My Experience:

It was probably the first sheet mask that I tried during my morning regimen as a part of my experiment. I’ve been reading about how K-beauty enthusiasts apply them on the morning and then finish it off with a moisturizer and then with a sunscreen and flaunt the hydration throughout the day. I kept the sheet mask on for about 30 minutes and it was still wet while I took it off. The fitting was average and the rose smell was too pleasant.

The moisturizer that I’ve been using for a couple of weeks now feels too heavy on my skin (review coming soon). So after I took off the mask my skin was immensely hydrated but after using the moisturizer I didn’t notice anything except for the hydration. After I washed my face during my night time regimen, the heavy feeling from the moisturizer went away and the radiance and brightening effect were noticeable. The hydration lingered when I woke up the next day (today) and the radiance is still noticeable while I’m writing this post, though not too dramatic but enough to make me feel guilty to avoid it for so long.

Will I purchase it again?

Sure it won’t be my first choice while sheet mask hauling the next time, but if I’m picking up a bunch, it certainly will be in my cart.

Will I recommend it?

To anyone who wants moisture+hydration+radiance

5 Sheet Mask Mistakes You Are Probably Making

K-beauty is still a relatively new concept in India compared to the western world. And who can you blame? Apart from the fact that Indian Women usually don’t indulge in much skincare, India also lacks the abundance of the amazing products that South Korea has to offer. We only have Innisfree and The Face Shop (very recently launched) to at least get the idea what the ravings are all about. Sometimes we hear the ravings (and criticism) from the mouth of people who have used only a couple of products from the above mentioned brands (no disregard meant) but are yet to get their hands on the much glorious brands. No doubt, Innisfree is an excellent brand but trust me, there are much, much, much, better brands out there to experiment with. Because you can’t tell what’s really working on your skin until you have tried more than just one brand.

The reason why I’m taking my time to write this article today is because I’ve read many Indian Bloggers giving out misinformation to their readers. I am not here to name anyone bad, but since I have been indulging in Korean Skincare for over 2 years now and I have been studying about it for so long, trying out so many brands and communicating with Korean Beauty Bloggers as well as K-beauty Bloggers from different parts of the world am just using this column to share the knowledge I have gained in this two years.

Today’s post will only be about sheet masks because I have read so many misinformation regarding them and I thought that this was much needed. So here are some stuffs you need to keep in mind if you are someone who indulges in K-beauty or you are looking forward to.

  1. Do not wash your face after sheet masking:

So I was going through a very popular blog reading reviews as I sometimes do during my leisure hours and I came across an Innisfree Sheet Mask review and the blogger was actually complaining about how the moisture didn’t linger after washing her face. I mean why??? Why would you do that? Why would you waste that hard earned hydration and moisture by just washing your face. Sheet Masks are literally sheets drenched in serum or essence. Do you wash your face right after applying a serum? NO. Then why would you do that after sheet masking? You just earned your face an amazing hydration and moisture, so just enjoy it and only wash your face during your next skincare routine.

  1. Do not reuse your sheet mask:

This one I read like million times. Like people actually store that used sheet mask so when they sheet mask the next time and there’s a little serum left at the bottom of the packet, they soak the used sheet in that serum and give it to someone in the family to use. Again, why? If you are indulging in something this unhygienic and feeding your skin with so many bacteria then why would you even indulge in skincare in the first place. The first rule of thumb is to be hygienic. People who actually indulge in Korean Skincare maintain their hygiene like their religion. We don’t even put our washed fingers in products that comes in tubs, we use washed sterilized spatula to be extra careful. So just throw away that used sheet when you sheet mask the next time.

  1. Follow it up with a moisturizer:

Because sheet masks are drenched in serum, not moisturizer. Both have different tasks and your skin needs both. I don’t know how many people use a moisturizer or a night cream after sheet masking but I’ve heard a lot of people complaining that the sheet masks have made their skin sticky and greasy. Yes, because you’ve probably forgot to seal in the goodness with a layer of moisturizer. And no, an added layer doesn’t make your skin more greasy, it just locks it all in.

  1. Don’t leave it on for too long:

I’ll admit that while sheet masks are usually required to be left on for 20 minutes, I do leave them on for 30 minutes sometimes, especially if I feel that the mask is drenched in too much serum. But I do remove it while the sheet is still damp. If you leave it on until it’s completely dry, chances are that the sheet will soak back the moisture from your skin. (This point is actually made by Korean Skin Specialists)

  1. Choose the masks according to your need:

It’s a no brainer that different sheet masks target different types of skin issues like any other product. If an oily skin beauty applies a super hydrating mask, chances are she might break out or get an oiler skin. So choose according to your skin. Whatever your concerns are, there’s something for you.

i.e- Oily skin- Tea Tree Oil;  Acne Prone Skin- Tea Tree Oil, Green Tea;  Troubled/Irritated Skin- Aloe, Bija, Green Tea, Rice, Makgeolli;   25+ – Collagen, Pomegranate (firmness);   Dry skin- Manuka Honey;   Dull Irritated Skin- Green Tea;   Need Brightening- Tomato, Lemon;  Need Purification- Rice, Makgeolli, Seaweed.

To make the whole sheet mask scenario a little clearer, I am discussing how I personally apply sheet masks:

  • While most women around the world apply sheet masks during the morning skincare regimen to flaunt the hydration throughout the day, I personally use them during the night. Firstly because I’m not a morning person, secondly, I stay indoors most of the days and lastly, I feel like the serum is getting to do wonders to my skin while I sleep and I wake up the next morning with a plumped up and super hydrated skin.
  • Never apply them on an unclean face: I actually wanted it to make the 6th mistake point but then I thought that no one can actually sheet mask on a dirty face, can they? While sheet masking on an unclean face is out of question, you might even wanna exfoliate before sheet masking. It actually depends on the amount of time you are sheet masking in a week. For example- I usually sheet mask twice a week (sometimes as often as every day) and I exfoliate once a week, so once I sheet mask after exfoliation, and once after detoxifying with a charcoal pack. If you are someone who sheet mask once in a while, then try doing it post exfoliation. That way your skin can absorb the most of it.
  • Applying serums before the Sheet Mask: Just because you are sheet masking, doesn’t mean you should avoid your regular serum that day, ever heard about serum cocktails? So while the usual regimen says that the serum application goes after the sheet mask, I feel like applying the serum before the sheet mask is more beneficial. That way the goodness of the serum gets locked into the skin along with the goodness of the sheet mask. (This is actually something I learned from Jude Chao from Fifty Shades of Snails)

And lastly, read the instructions before applying the masks. You cannot make the most out of your sheet mask unless you are applying it properly. I hope these informations were helpful. Do drop down a comment if you have any queries and do participate in my Innisfree Giveaway to win some amazing goodies.

Till then,

Bye,

Innisfree Capsule Recipe Sleeping Pack In Aloe & Bija Review

This is probably my first sleeping pack review since I couldn’t get around to review the last two sleeping packs. I purchased them while on a trip and used them up before I got to click the pictures. Apologies for that, I’m going to order them once again and surely gonna review them this time, I promise.

So… What Is A Sleeping Pack/Sleeping Mask?

Sleeping pack is one of the hypes from Korean Beauty Market. There’s a lot of sleeping masks out there in the market targeting different treatments. There’s sleeping packs claiming brightening, there’s sleeping packs claiming anti-aging, and there’s sleeping packs claiming treatment to troubled skin. And whether they are any good or not, depends totally on the specific mask.

My initial idea of sleeping packs is that they are a bit more potential than regular night creams and the two that I’ve already used are a bit heavier and a bit stickier than night creams. But that didn’t bother me at all, in fact I loved it. And then again, usually sleeping packs are meant to use twice a week, so I think of it more like a twice a week treatment. And lastly apart from delivering the claims, the previous sleeping masks used to give me super plump skin the following few days, so yes, I love the concept of sleeping masks.

Innisfree Capsule Recipe : Aloe & Bija

What it is

  1. Skin trouble and soothing care with bija and aloe ingredients (Containing 100ppm of bija oil, 1,000ppm of aloe vera leaf juice extract and 1,000 ppm of aloe vera leaf extract)2. A texture that absorbs into the skin freshly and moistly

    3. A sleeping pack that softly absorbs into the skin

How to use

Apply the desired amount and gently spread onto the face at the cream step. Leave on overnight and wash it off next morning.

Ingredients:

WATER, GLYCERIN, PENTYLENE GLYCOL, METHYLPROPANEDIOL, ALGAE EXTRACT, ECLIPTA PROSTRATA LEAF EXTRACT, ULMUS DAVIDIANA ROOT EXTRACT, AMARANTHUS CAUDATUS SEED EXTRACT, ARCTIUM LAPPA ROOT EXTRACT, LINUM USITATISSIMUM (LINSEED) SEED EXTRACT, ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF EXTRACT, HIBISCUS ESCULENTUS FRUIT EXTRACT, CITRUS UNSHIU PEEL EXTRACT, CAMELLIA SINENSIS LEAF EXTRACT, ORCHID EXTRACT, CAMELLIA JAPONICA LEAF EXTRACT, OPUNTIA COCCINELLIFERA FRUIT EXTRACT, ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF JUICE, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, DIPROPYLENE GLYCOL, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, PEG-40 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL, ACRYLATES/C10-30 ALKYL ACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER, TROMETHAMINE, C12-14 PARETH-12, TRISODIUM EDTA, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, FRUCTOOLIGOSACCHARIDES, LECITHIN, BETA-GLUCAN, ALLANTOIN, TORREYA NUCIFERA SEED OIL, HYDROLYZED HYALURONIC ACID, FRAGRANCE, PHENOXYETHANOL, POTASSIUM SORBATE, SODIUM BENZOATE, CI 19140, CI 42090

My Experience:

[Picture taken after 3 usages]

As you can see, it’s actually a gel, a sleeping gel. Initially it feels a little sticky on the skin but with light massage it absorbs into the skin amazingly. I had the idea that sleeping packs are usually heavy on the skin, but this one was super light and I guess that makes it a perfect choice for oily skin beauties. At first I was a bit sceptical about what to expect from such a lightweight gel, but then I discovered its soothing power. I have a combination skin that doesn’t breakout except for that time of the month *touchwood.  So when I got a couple of bumps, I discovered that this sleeping pack actually helps sooth my irritated skin. I know, I just told that sleeping packs are usually used twice a week, but since it didn’t have any particular instructions like that, and because its lightweight I used it a little more frequently than twice a week and I got impressive results. Within two days of usage (at one day interval) my skin was visibly clear, calm and the oil breakout actually vanished. I guess I should be stocking it up for that time of the month.

Will I purchase it again?

Yes

Will I recommend it?

Oily Skin beauties- definitely

Combination skin beauties- You can try one out and decide for yourself if it works for you [Reminder: I myself have a combination skin]

Dry skin beauties- You are definitely not going to like it unless you breakout during that time of the month like me. If you do, then you can give it a try

Pros:

  • Does what it claims
  • Travel Friendly
  • Refreshing
  • Paraben Free
  • Improved packaging comes with a lid

Nothing

Innisfree It’s Real Squeeze Mask Lime Review

Hello everybody, hope you guys are doing fine. Today I’m going to review the Innisfree It’s Real Squeeze Mask Lime because Innisfree launched in Nykaa last month and I just cannot stop myself.

I guess everybody is aware of the skincare benefits of lemons and limes. They brighten up dull skin and when it comes to removing tans, nothing can compete with them. They are called natural bleach. Unfortunately, applying them directly on the skin can be really harsh. I will say ‘don’t do it, just don’t. When it comes to DIY de-tan mask I usually use tomato juice for direct application, and when the tan seems way too stubborn I mix as little as one drop of lemon juice into my mask, but still I won’t recommend it as just because it suits my skin, doesn’t mean it will suit yours. Thankfully they are still applicable, thanks to the professionally formulated skincare products.

Ever since I came back from Andaman, my lookout for brightening products has turned into a craze even after I have successfully removed my tans. After the Vita C mask from Innisfree, this lime mask was next in the queue and I had high hopes. And why not? I mean it contains potential ingredients as Niacinamide and Grapefruit Extract, and Lime Extract and Green Tea Extract and many other ingredients that are known for brightening and skin firming and recovering dry and damaged skin. Why wouldn’t someone have high hopes on it?

However, it did disappoint me when it comes to the brightening effect. Everything else about this mask is super cool. It fits well, it’s drenched in enough serum, it takes as long as 40 minutes to dry out, it smells pleasant and most importantly my skin was visibly clear and hydrated. But since it screams brightening, it was a little disappointment comparing to the Vita C Mask Sheet. So if you are looking for a real brightening mask, you know which one to choose, and if you are purchasing it as a pack of all the sheet masks that comes from the range and applying it for the sake of sheet masking, I don’t think you will be disappointed. And for the plus effect, it did firm my skin; I guess I might have to thank the presence Niancinamide for that.

Ingredients:

Water, glycerin, butylene glycol, niacinamide, alcohol, betaine, citrus paradisi (grapefruit) fruit extract, citrus aurantifolia (lime) juice, xanthan gum, PEG-60 hydrogenated castor oil, ethylhexylglycerin, sodium hyaluronate, citrus unshiu peel extract, orchid extract, camellia sinensis leaf extract, camellia japonica leaf extract, opuntia coccinellifera fruit extract, disodium EDTA, phenoxyethanol, fragrance

Price:

Rs 100/-

Where to buy:

Nykaa

Pros:

  • Hydrates
  • Firms
  • Makes skin visibly clear and skin tone even
  • Pocket Friendly

Cons:

  • For a brightening mask, the effect is not that notable. Works like any other sheet mask (a good one).

Tonymoly I’m Real Lemon Mask Sheet for Brightening Review

As the Diwali spirit is slowly burning out, I am back with my Korean Skincare reviews. I am currently taking the #novembermaskchallenge which is technically posting about different types of masks throughout the month of November. I will be posting them on my Instagram and will occasionally post full reviews on the blog in case the ones that I am applying haven’t already been reviewed. So day 1 was tropical vives and the closest thing I could get my hands on is Lemon. And now I am going to review the Tonymoly It’s Real Lemon Brightening Mask Sheet.

p_20161016_151544

I’ve been travelling the last week and I left my Vichy Face wash at my friend’s place where I crashed the first night. The rest of the week I had to do with my sister’s face wash which doesn’t really behave well on my skin. So when I applied the mask, my skin was a bit dull and I really wanted a new skin on my face. Not possible, so I had to repair what I was left with. Typically I love putting lemon juice and tomato juice on my face because of their brightening and de-tanning properties. Back in those ‘live by myself’ days I used to use a besan pack on my face mixed with tomato and lemon juice at least twice a week. My skin tans like crazy and the combo works like magic. However, I haven’t done it in a while and my skin has been looking really dark since the past few months. The Lemon Mask obviously seemed to be the best choice. Needless to say, I had a high expectation from this particular mask. You see, the worst thing you can put on your skin is a whitening product, the average thing you can put on your skin is a lightening product, and the BEST thing you can put on your skin is a brightening products. Of course the Koreans know about skin better than us, and thus I expect almost every Kbeauty products to deliver even the slightest of brightening effect. Actually that’s the only thing I expect besides hydration. So when a mask that contains lemon and screams brightening, your expectations will reach sky high.

p_20161016_151550

Let’s just skip the application part just this one, there’s nothing new, I apply all my sheet masks in the same manner, and have been writing the same procedure repeatedly. Let’s just talk about what it did to my skin. Obviously my skin wasn’t at its best when I tried it out; it was dark, and dull and a little bit irritated. So I left the mask on for about half an hour and removed it to reveal a clear and bright skin. Now about the brightening claim, it did deliver to its claim, but nothing extra-ordinary. Let’s say, on a scale from 1-10, my skin was a 5, and the mask made it 6, while I was expecting at least 7-8. Then again, my expectations were too high and my skin was a bit dull and dark so it had a lot of work to do. I am assuming, it would have worked much better if my skin wasn’t acting up lately, but sadly it was.

20161023_222044

Now, about the pictures. While coming back home, I encountered a 4 yr old in the train who’ll put even my nieces to shame. She posed for a few pictures and took my phone to check them out and deleted my whole gallery because her pictures weren’t good enough. I would have found it too adorable if my gallery wasn’t too precious. So all I am left with to share is the ones that I took while doing the haul post and the sheet mask selfie which I just remembered that I had transferred to my laptop.

TONY MOLY “I’M REAL” SHEET MASK REVIEW- Rice

Just a couple of days ago I posted my Kbeauty haul and now I’ve officially started reviewing them one by one. Because of all the experiments and tortures that my skin goes through, it’s safe to say that my skin is not at its best right now. I’ve got a few tiny bumps on my face which is bothering me a lot as I rarely get pimples. So I decided to start by purifying my skin with my favourite variety of sheet mask, that’s the rice one.

p_20161016_151525

Product Claims

Nourish your skin with the I’m Real Rice Mask Sheet! This 3-layer pulp sheet is filled with a latex-based essence that is infused with natural oils to provide maximum elasticity and brightening effects for your skin. No parabens, talc, benzophenone, or triethanolamine included.

p_20161016_151534

I’ve earlier used a rice mask from Etude House while I was suffering from a bad breakout and it worked wonderfully. This time it’s a Tonymoly one, and while my skin is not as horrible as the time it was while I tried the Etude House one, it still was pretty bad and again I am amazed to see how rice works on irritated skin. Japanese Geishas’ have been using rice water to clean their skin from the ancient days, and if you have ever wondered what their secret to get such porcelain skins is, there I just answered part of your curiosity.

So back to the Sheet Mask review. The sheet was soaked in a very decent amount of milky white serum, with some leftover in the packet.  I doubled cleansed my face, prepped with a toner and applied the sheet mask leaving it for 25 minutes. The mask fit my face wonderfully. Maybe, it’s the best fitting sheet mask I’ve ever used. My bad I didn’t take a ghost selfie, but there are still 10 masks with the same fitting sitting on my shelf, so you might see one in the next post.

The initial effect after taking it off was just what you’ll expect from a very good sheet mask, intensely moisturized and hydrated skin. The following morning I woke up with a CLEAR and BRIGHT skin, exactly what I expect a sheet mask to do. I am very happy with the result and am eager to find out how the rests work out; my money is on the red wine one.

Pros:

  • Reasonable price
  • Amazing fitting
  • Does everything it claims
  • No parabens

Cons:

Nothing

Where To Buy Korean Skincare Products in India + Some Tips & Tricks

As promised, I’m here today with some tips and tricks and brand suggestions to keep in mind while shopping for Korean Skin Care products.

collage

First things first-

Where to get them? (Based on personal experience)

Soko Glam:

I became obsessed with Korean Skincare almost two years ago.  Soko Glam happens to be the website where I got my first Kbeauty products from- Tonymoly Oil Cleanser (still Obsessed), Skinfood Green Tea Bubble Cleanser (Best thing that ever happened to my skin) and Goodal Phytowash (Exfoliation dream). Soko Glam is a very trustworthy website. Charlotte Cho visits Seoul and picks up the products herself and tries it on her own skin before adding it to the website. The back draws however is that they don’t have any minimum free shipping rate to India. For those residing in the U.S or Canada, this site’s the best for you guys. (Thank Me Later)

Amazon:

My second purchase was a pack of 10 sheetmasks from Innisfree that I ordered from Amazon and I have no idea if the merchant was authentic. The masks did work brilliantly on my skin though. I gave away two masks to my colleagues and they loved them so much that they asked me to order a few for them while ordering my next lot.

StrawberryNet:

This time it was a pack of 10 Etude House Masks. They worked great as well. But then I read a lot of consumer complaints that the StrawberryNet products are not authentic and have reacted badly on a lot of peoples’ skin. So I didn’t repeat order from this site even though I got lucky with my order.

Innisfree Delhi Store:

I legit left my job on December 2015 and flew to New Delhi to visit the Innisfree Store in January and I did a huge haul. Delhi beauties, I envy you (because of the recent Face Shop launch as well)!

Wishtrend:

It’s a legit site as well. But they offer free shipping above 66$ or something which will mess up with the custom.  They have free shipping on some particular products and I still keep checking if there’s any new product in the Free Shipping list that I wanna try. No personal experience yet.

Skin18:

I am pretty sure I don’t need to talk much about this website. They are well known for their blogger friendly programmed. They have sent me two packages for review purpose and I loved them all. However, Free Shipping is above 60$.

Cosmetic Love:

Here comes the most awaited part. The magic website with free shipping, Tada! No shipping charge, no custom duty. Just try to keep your orders low to avoid custom. You’ll get a tracking ID by paying an $2.5. Their website says that it will take about 2 weeks for the order to show up, but my first two orders came 1 month late. But then again, my first order came along with a package from Greece shipped a couple of months ago, so I guess both went for a little custom tour. My third order didn’t show up, so when I mailed them about it, they were kind enough to reorder my products again with a free tracking ID.  And after I received it, I placed my fourth order. I am sticking with this website.

Referral Link:

http://r.sloyalty.com/r/uWuXxR0DE7uf – 15% Off with my Referral link.

Daisy Skin Fix

It’s an Indian E-commerce site where you can get a multiple Korean Skincare brands, and guess what? They have free shipping on all order.

Nykaa:

By the Grace of God, Innisfree and The Face Shop has recently launched in Nykaa…

A little tips and tricks-

  • Already gave one, while ordering from Cosmetic Love, try keeping your order low.
  • They offer an abundant amount of samples and trial sized pack. So you’d like to order some samples first, they comes very chip, plus they extremely travel friendly. If you are ordering a lot of different types of samples, try one product at a time so you can figure out the culprit if something goes wrong (I haven’t had any bad experience with any Korean Products so far and my skin is super-sensitive, so chances are very low).
  • You’ll get free samples if there are any full sized products in the order and yes sheet masks count. The higher the full sized product prize amount, the more samples you’ll receive.

My Favourite Brands: (Only The Bests)

  • Tonymoly
  • Mishha
  • Etude House
  • Innisfree
  • Goodal
  • Foodaholic

Favourite Products Used So Far : (Only the bests)

Products I Would Suggest Not To Try-

So that’s all. Hope you enjoyed this post and please do not hesitate if you have any more queries, I would love to post a sequel if needed.

And once again, I am not being benefited from this post. The whole post is best on personal experience and my love for Korean cosmetics.

All About Korean Skincare

I am going to talk about skincare today, something that has been overlooked by Indian women for years (I’m not talking about the ancient days here, they did just fine). How many of us have grown up watching our mothers apply routine anti-aging products before completely ruining their skin or have themselves started using them as soon as they turned 25? How many of us prefer using a spot corrector instead of a concealer? Not many I guess.

There are very few Indian women who spends as much time on removing the makeup as much as they spent putting it on. We’ll hide all the flaws using make-up but rarely will try to get rid of them once and for all. It’s like completely depriving our skin of the essential care and when the skin is ruined, we start spending fortune on treatment products.
May be it’s time we learn something from the women with the porcelain skin. I’ve read somewhere that Korean mother’s teach their daughters (and even their son) how to take care of their skin before even they reach adolescence. That explains why you won’t come across a single Korean woman who doesn’t have a flawless skin.  Of course the food they consume also has a part in it. They consume a lot of fermented food (like the delicious Kimchi which is basically fermented cabbage) that are somewhat responsible for their flawless skin. Even the Japanese people eat a lot of fermented food (like Nato, fermented soybean) and don’t they have flawless skin too? Even though we can’t (or may we can) eat Kimchi with lunch and Nato for breakfast every single day, we can always indulge in an extensive skincare routine whether or not influenced by the Korean 10 step skincare routine.
When I first came to know about the Korean Skincare routine about a year ago, I was in my mid-20s and my skin was in ruins. I barely used a moisturizer, not even after exfoliating, deprived my skin of sunscreen and used a harsh face wash which could ‘do it all’. My skincare products included a harsh face wash and a scrubber with large granules. When a colleague noticed the damage, I purchased night creams, serums, eye cream and other stuffs and started taking care of my skin. The damage was too severe that the products made no difference even after months of applying. That’s when I came across the Korean Skincare routine. I didn’t have much of the products, so I followed 5 steps with the products I already have and sure enough I noticed a huge difference the following morning. My skin was even and somewhat glowing. I started doing more research, purchased more products and modified the routine according to my needs. Within weeks my skin was so glowing that my colleagues and friends started asking me what did I do? That’s when I wrote my first article on my first blog about the skincare I was indulging in. The article got a huge response and after my colleagues and friends became Korean skincare converts too, I launched this blog to document my K-beauty Journey.
Korean skincare is all about layering. And if you want to follow the steps using Indian or International products, make sure that the products you are using doesn’t contain parabens or SLS. The more all-natural products you use, the better.
The first step itself contains 2 steps.
Oil Cleansing– It’s like using oil against oil. The oil helps break down the built up sebum, dirt and makeup and with a little effort it all comes off. They say your skin needs to be treated like a flower and not like the dirty utensils in your kitchen. So the key is to be gentle. I am currently using Tonymoly oil cleanser.

11330821_157663711234141_1807889828_n

Bubble Cleanser– It’s the second step of cleansing; making sure that your skin is squeaky clean by now. Two of my favourite bubble cleansers are SkinFood Green Tea Bubble Cleanser and Innisfree Green Barley Bubble Cleanser.

DSC02535

• Exfoliate: The gentler version of scrubbing. Making sure that the granules are tiny, exfoliate twice a month. This step is the key to get a healthy skin. If you don’t exfoliate your skin, the built up dead cells will prevent your skin from absorbing all the goodness of the products you are applying. Also keep in mind that over exfoliating will only result in melanin production and therefore darker skin. I am currently using Goodal Phytowash Bubble Peeling.

Face Packs: The K-skincare can vary from 10-17 steps according to your needs. So you can always include steps which you think is good for your skin. In my case I randomly use many face packs but my favourite ones are any kind of Charcoal masks when my skin needs detoxification and Aloe masks when my skin is irritated.

Toner: You can use your regular toner, just making sure it doesn’t contain alcohol because a toner containing alcohol will only make your skin drier.

My favourite one is Kama Ayurveda Distilled Rose Water.
Sheet Mask: This is my favourite step. Just put on a Sheet Mask and chill for 20 minutes and wake up the next day with a super hydrated plumped up skin. I use sheet masks once or twice a week. I have so many favourites that I can’t really name just one or two. There’s the rice sheet mask from Etude House, the green tea, aloe vera and manuka honey from Innisfree and there’s a lot more to choose from.

Essence: The lighter version of serum yet a powerful one. Essences are very rarely available unless you live in Korea. I have tried the Missha Time Revolution Essence sample and the single application left me spellbound. The following morning was the best my skin has ever looked. However, that was the only time I used an essence but will surely get my hands on the full size soon.
Serum: This one’s a no brainer. The Korean women however apply multiple serums, making a serum cocktail, here’s one for anti-aging, here’s one for brightening, and here goes the spot correction. Of the many serums I have used, my favourites are the Neutrogena Fine Fairness serum and Innisfree Canola Honey Serum.

DSC02334

Moisturiser/Night cream/Sleep Mask: During the day time I use a moisturiser and during the P.M skincare I use a night cream, replacing with a sleep pack twice a week. My favourite moisturiser is Natural Bath & Body Whipped Cream, Favourite Night Creams are Kama Ayurveda Rejuvinating night cream and Innisfree Green Tea Balancing Night Cream and my Favourite Sleep packs are the tiny capsule recipe packs from Innisfree.

Sunscreen/Cushion Compact:  Cushion compacts are a huge fuss right now, thanks to K-beauty. Only if you use them once you’ll know what the fuss is all about. They flawlessly cover any imperfections giving your skin the dewy look that’s much raved about. I am currently using the Water Glow Cushion Compact from Innisfree and I occasionally replace it by a sunscreen from Chambor Geneva or the Eau Thermale Avene suncreen.

Eye Cream: Another no brainer. I am using Neutrogena Wrinkle Repair Eye Cream.
Mists: In order to maintain the dewiness achieved by the extensive skincare routine, women in Korea use mist periodically whether they are in office or in public transport. And no, it doesn’t ruin your make-up. The one that I have been using is from Innisfree and it’s been working pretty good on my skin.

So that’s about it. It might look extensive and time consuming, but once you start experimenting with this routine you will soon find yourself hooked and will start to modify according to your needs. Often times I use only 5 steps during the night and sometimes it gets down to 4 steps during the morning as I rarely use the oil cleanser during my A.M skincare. Even if you are too lazy to try it out, you can take it from the laziest person on the country that it’s really worth a shot.

The Indian Version of the 12 step Korean Skin Care Regimen, and Why Indian women should get introduced to KBeauty

No, I am not a Korean, neither I have been to Korea or stayed there. I am a regular Indian women who just like you damaged my skin by lack of skin care. Correct me if I am wrong but it isn’t unusual to see Indian women depriving their skin of the care and then at the age of 30, when the wrinkles and the damages are all visible, they spend fortune trying to recover the years of damage. Guilty as charged, I started 5 years early, when I have already damaged my skin. When I was around 16-17 I followed the mantra of Cleansing, Toning & Moisturizing and used to drink tons of water. As soon as I entered college it all changed to a harsh cleansing foam which could take out all the dirt without any effort. No I didn’t use any moisturizer, neither a night cream. As for sunscreen, I have a super sensitive skin and back then I didn’t know the difference between a physical sunscreen and a chemical one. So after trying out around 20 different sunscreens, I gave up. My entire skin care regimen consisted of a harsh face wash, and later (after finishing college, that’s when I actually got the time)that got followed up by occasional scrubbing and face packs, which never got summed up by any toner or a cream. To cover up my skins sin I used to get a De-tan facial done once a month, whose effect never lasted more than 4-5 days due to lack of follow up. So you can actually imagine what my skin condition was.
A few months ago my skin condition got noticed by a colleague, and I tried to recover it by applying night creams, serums, weekly scrubs, packs and other such things. It turned out that the damage was too severe to recover. That’s when I got introduced to the 12 step Korean Skin Care Regimen. The very day I read the article ( http://fashionista.com/2014/05/12-step-korean-skin-care-regimen ) I followed only 7 steps and I noticed the miracle the very next day. Since then I have been following the regimen and improvising it since all the products are not available in our country, and I must say that I am obsessed. I kept bragging about the regimen to my friends and colleagues and converted a lot of them as well.

So here’s everything about the Korean regimen and how I improvised it according to the products available in India.
The cleansing process itself contains two step

1: Oil Cleansing: Massage your face gently with an oil based cleanser so that the oil, make up and dirt melts easily. Then using a cotton pad wipe it off gently.

I am currently using the Tonymoly Brightening Cleansing Oil.

2: Foam Cleanser: Because you need to make sure your skin is squeaky clean, because trust me, if your cotton pad soaked in toner bring up traces of makeup and sebum, you are not doing it right. There’s a lot of Indian brands that has Cleansers is free from parabens, sulfate and artificial fragrance.

But if you want to try out a Korean Bubble Cleanser that’s easily available, my recommendation is Innisfree Green Barley Bubble Cleanser

dsc02535

3: Exfoliator: The difference between a scrubber and an exfoliater is that scrubbers are harsh and can damage your skin. Exfoliators gets rid of the dead skin while scrubbers only renew them. Choose an exfoliator that has tiny granules. My personal favourite Goodal PhytoRX. Also you can make your own DIY scrub, mixing besan (gram flour), a little all purpose flour, rice powder, a few drops of lemon and tomato juice. Nothing works better than grandma’s skincare tips.

Also, be very very gentle while scrubbing, and do not scrub more than once a week. Scrubbing harshly will only lead to more melanin secretion, which results in darker skin.

4: Toner/Refresher: A toner balances the pH level of the skin and prepares your skin to accept the bounty you are about to heap on it.  Avoid the ones that contains alcohol as they will only make your skin dry. I usually stick with the Kama Ayurveda Distilled Rose Water.

5: Essence: This is a mystery step to a lot of people. It would have been a mystery to me as well if the lovely Charlotte Cho from sokoglam.com hadn’t sent me a sample of Missha Time Revolution Essence. It brightened up my dull skin overnight. I haven’t used another product that does such amazing wonder. The essence is a lighter version of the serum, but of course it has it’s own part in skincare. Unfortunately, there’s not many essence out in the market except for the Korean ones.

6: Serum: Here comes my favorite part of the regimen. It simply amazes me to imagine what these wonders can do. And it gets interesting. Since Korean Skincare is all about layering, and they come up with products targeting every types of issues, you can layer serums targeting different uses and viola! you have a flawless skin.

Out of many serums that I’ve used, my personal favorite still has to be the the Innisfree Canola Honey serum which isn’t available in Nykaa yet, but you can try some other Korean serums from here: http://www.nykaa.com/search/result/?q=innisfree . Or you can try out our very own Just Herbs Elixir Serum.

7: Sheet Mask: Did I just say that serum was my favourite step? Ah! I might have been mistaken. Any reader of my blog knows that I am a big time Sheet Mask addict. They provides extra hydration and plumps up your skin. It is like a single serving serum that locks all the goodness in your skin and doesn’t let the serum evaporate. They are the treats I give my skin once or twice a week. I love how my skin plumps up and brightens up overnight, and that dewy look stays for 2-3 days. When it comes to healthy looking skin, hydration is the key, and to provide that hydration nothing works better than sheet masks (and of course drink lots of water). You can get a lot of Sheet Masks from Nykaa, just grab a few and you’ll figure out which one works for you (of course keeping in mind your skin situation)

8: Eye Cream: I’ll take it that you are already familiar with this step so I won’t talk much about this step, except for that if you are 25 or above and you still aren’t using one, it’s about time you start to.

9: Moisturizers/ Sleep Masks/ Night Creams: The morning regimen gets summed up by a moisturizer and the night time regimen gets summed up by a night cream or a sleep pack. . My favourite one is Kama Ayurveda Rejuvenating and Brightening Night Cream.

10: Sun Care: One of the most important steps which you are already aware of. While choosing a Sunscreen I would suggest sticking with a physical one, mostly if you have sensitive skin.

Blossom Kochhar – Aroma Magic Sunblock Lotion spf 30 PA ++ Review in this article, I have briefly discussed the difference between a physical sunscreen and a chemical one and which one you should choose.

11: Mist: To maintain the dewiness achieved through this 10 step regimen Korean Women uses mist periodically. It doesn’t messes up the make up but provides the hydration through out the day and gives you a fresh, dewy look.

The one that’s been providing me hydration on the go: Innisfree Green Tea Mineral Mist

So these are the steps, but trust me it takes less time than you fear it does. When you are layering your skincare products you should consider waiting for like 30 secs to layer another product, so that the previous product gets time to absorb into your skin. If you are considering trying out this regimen then I’ll suggest you to go for it, if you cannot commit  to any step then avoid it, there’s no rule that you should go through the 10 steps or the 12 steps, you can always experiment and improvise according to what your skin needs, that’s where Korean Skincare gets all the more interesting. Once you get used to the regimen you will find yourself really enjoying the routine and even experimenting with it.

So I’ll be eager to know if you guys are going to give this routine a try. Till then,

Bye…xoxo
