Holy Grail Review: J.One Black Jelly Pack

Discovering a brand whose products are one of their kinds is like hitting a jackpot. A few months ago, I was introduced to one such brand when they approached me not only to review their products but also looking for Indian K-Beauty distributors to tie up with. I had heard of the highly raved J.One Jelly Pack before, but they sent me not just the Jelly Pack but also the Black Jelly Pack which became a staple in my routine.

Both the products come in identical bottles, while the Black Jelly Pack comes in a black bottle and white card board box, the other one comes in a white bottle and black cardboard box. The product itself is a mysterious blackish blue jelly that’s not too thick and applies smoothly all over the skin without leaving any sticky residue.

Description:

Wake up to glowing skin with this hydrating and smoothing overnight mask, formulated with anti-oxidant rich midnight-hued ingredients.

How it works:

The J.One Black Jelly Pack is the nighttime compliment to the cult-status Jelly Pack. The Black Jelly Pack harnesses the power of 7 midnight-hued antioxidant rich ingredients. Extracts of nutrient-dense black berry, black cumin and propolis help to hydrate and nourish the skin. Skin appears smooth and supple. This overnight radiance-boosting treatment is also formulated with fragmented hyaluronic acid and niacinamide to help minimize the appearance of dry fine lines and dullness. This multi-tasking treatment can be used in the morning and evening as a serum and mask-in-one.

Free of:
Parabens, Synthetic Dyes & Fragrances, Mineral Oils.

How to use:

Dispense a dime size amount onto finger tips and gently sweep onto cleansed skin (approximately 1-2 pumps). After 30 seconds, pat into skin until completely absorbed. If desired, use as the last step of your night routine as an overnight sleeping mask.

Ingredients:

Water, Butylene Glycol, Chondrus Crispus Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugarcane) Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Pentylene Glycol, PEG-240/HDI Copolymer Bis-Decyltetradeceth-20 Ether, Potassium Laurate, BHT, Carbomer, Phenoxyethanol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Octyldodeceth-16, Caprylyl Glycol, Aminomethyl Propanol, Adenosine, Disodium EDTA, PVP, Fullerenes, Hydrolyzed Pearl, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5,  Dipropylene Glycol, Sodium Palmitoyl Proline, Nymphaea Alba Flower Extract, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Plankton Extract, Fragrance(Parfum), Nigella Sativa Seed Extract, Rubus Fruticosus (Blackberry) Fruit Extract, Ribes Nigrum (Black Currant) Leaf Extract, Propolis Extract, Tuber Melanosporum Extract, Aureobasidium Pullulans Ferment, Gardenia Florida Fruit Extract, Monascus Extract, Maltodextrin, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Flower Extract.

The ingredient list includes black pearl, black currant, blackberry, along with some standard skin enhancers like niacinamide, adenosine, hyaluronic acid, various herbal, plankton and propolis extracts which is impressive to say the least.

My Experience:

Prior to receiving this beauty, sheetmask used be my favourite of all steps. In comes this game changer to strip of the ‘favourite step’ tag from my dear sheetmasks. I would like totally wait for the last step of my night time routine to dispense 2-3 pumps of this mysterious blue jelly and pat it into my skin and sleep it off without any tacky/sticky feeling. The jelly smoothes on the skin and absorbs very easily without feeling heavy. However, the magic can be felt the following morning, waking up to a nicely hydrated and most importantly, plumped up skin. The first time I used it, I was like, ‘how can a mild jelly like product possibly hydrate my skin immensely?’. With a couple of weeks of usage I noticed a firming effect on my skin. I’m 28 with no solid anti-aging routine, but luckily the only early aging sign I could notice was starting to lose elasticity around the corner of my lip, which none can see but only I could feel. The reason I could feel a sign that wasn’t visible was because my mum has sagging skin around her lip corner and I could totally feel my lip corner becoming like hers. Within a couple of weeks after starting to use the J.One Black Jelly pack, my lip area became as firm as it was when I was in high school.

My Black Jelly Pack ran out during the wedding as a result of introducing it my sister when she was home and currently I’m begging Indian K-beauty retailers to curate this product so that I can get it for my sister and I and possibly even my mum (who never wears a moisturizer unless I hand it out to her every morning and evening).

Pros:

  • Firms
  • Hydrates
  • Locks in the goodness from all the previous steps
  • Can be used both as a night cream/gel as well as a sleep pack
  • Smells pleasant
  • Comes in an elegant packaging
  • Suits my hyper-sensitive skin
  • Decently hydrated my normal skin throughout the winter
  • Water based

Cons:

Since I started K-beauty blogging when K-beauty wasn’t available in India, I don’t consider availability as a con, but that just my personal opinion.

Where to buy:

NOTE:

  1. Thank you for the review. I would love to get this baby. I want to use it as a sleeping mask. I use vitamin c serum everyday. So I can’t use both of them together as it contains Niacinamide. I think I should skip Vit c when I use this.
Waiting for review on J. One jelly mask.

    1. Personally, I have used products containing Niancinamide along with BHA/AHA as well as with Vitamin C and have not experienced any reaction so far. That being said, everybody’s skin is different so I cannot guarantee it will react the same with you. On the other hand I have once used Vita C and chemical exfoliator on same routine and got a huge cystic acne.
